About SME Administration
The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration (SME Administration), a government agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, is responsible for helping Taiwan's small and medium enterprises to thrive and develop their businesses.

Taiwan is known for its dynamic SMEs, with over 1 million business entities falling into the SME category. Over 6 million people, a third of Taiwan's population, are employed by SMEs. The SME Administration is thus dedicated to serving this economically dominant community.

Taiwan is recognized for its achievements in fostering dynamic and competitive small businesses. Behind this success is the SME Administration, which works to create a business environment in which small businesses can thrive and prosper through sound policies and their effective implementation.

To cope with the challenges of globalization and the economic recession caused by the recent financial crisis, the SME Administration has set down five key strategies: creating a healthy environment for the development of SMEs; building a platform for enterprise start-up and incubation; enhancing SME information technology capabilities; strengthening SME management guidance functions; and integrating SME finance mechanisms.
